We learned that the acts overall goal is to expand current HACCP regulations into all food manufacturing processes and to ensure complete compliance with existing regulations. The Act is being foreseen by some to result in a difficult transition for food manufacturers to switch over to Aseptic processing in the short term because of the added cost and complexity. However, the same predictions suggest that it will be worth it for Aseptic Technology in the long term because more companies will be forced to find processes that are in full compliance with the act. Power Brands reviews the president of a packaging-consulting firm called RAY-PAK Inc, Raymond Bourque, and he had some comments about the new law and its effects on Aseptic Technology: “For a period of time, I think that all food manufacturers will be looking at their processes in light of trying to comply with the regulations. So their first focus will be on ensuring that processes they are currently using are in compliance,” Mr. Bourque went on to say, “Long-term, I think it might actually help aspetic. But in the short-term there are going to be a lot of things to do – and changing a process will be another complexity.” “Fortunately, I would say that Aseptic processes do a lot of this anyway,” Mr. Bourque added “So I think Aseptic is probably in a pretty good position to comply with some of the regulations.”sporting, storing and serving beverages.
